On 7 September 2011, Böhnhardt and Mundlos robbed a Sparkasse bank branch on Goethestraße in Arnstadt. The two threatened staff with weapons and a dummy hand grenade, injuring one person. Böhnhardt and Mundlos fled with 15,000 euros.
